Creative Sessions
Our creative sessions last for one or two hours each and combine a time to gather for friendship and inspiration over a drink from Dude’s Cafe, a creative arts project and/or a creative writing project and a time for reflection at the end.
Meet and Create
We hear you! You’d like a place to meet new friends, a quiet, calm space where you can take part in a creative activity, where there’s a cafe you can get amazing hot chocolates from, where there’s space and time to get to know each other, but it’s also small, cosy, calm and gentle.
After-School Calm Art Sessions
For our younger guests, we are offering a weekly ‘Calm Creative Session’ from 4-5 pm every Thursday (during term time)
Bookings are taken for 5-week blocks.
£175p/p, paid in advance.
The Nook, Standlake
‘Writing for therapy is not like other types of writing … it is about using the written word to promote healing and growth’. C. Pollard
The Nook in Standlake is dedicated to creative writing as therapy for individuals or small groups. Set in peaceful surroundings, it provides a calm sanctuary from which to explore life events such as loss, gratitude, family, and emotions through carefully guided creative writing. For adults and young people 12+.
‘Writing is a kind and comparatively gentle way of facing whatever there is to be faced.’ G. Bolton
It also provides a safe space for young people to grow into confident writers, with 1-1 support and lots of fun, inspirational activities, there is the time and space to enjoy the benefits of creative writing. It can also act as a stepping stone for those not quite confident enough to join the larger group at The Nook in Jessie’s Art Shed, Eynsham.
I find it hard to express how much of a wonderful influence you have been on him. Thanks to your gentle coaching, his writing confidence has grown so much. I can hardly recognise that this is the same boy who, 18 months ago, was refusing to write and finding the whole exercise so stressful. He believes you when you say he should try being an author one day. You’ve done that much for his self-belief. Thank you, thank you, thank you!’ H
