Alternative Provision
Our creative sessions aim to offer an alternative provision for young people who find it difficult to attend school. They combine creative writing and art to help foster confidence and develop skills within a safe, calming environment. The Nook is open from Monday to Friday for group sessions as well as bespoke one-to-one creative sessions.
The Nook for Alternative Provision
We are therapeutic, trauma-informed teachers.
We are happy to collaborate with schools, parents, and carers to achieve the best possible outcome for each young person.
We have experience working with and mentoring young people who require an alternative approach to standard education.
We support neurodiverse young people by recognising their unique strengths and challenges.
We are kind, inclusive, and love creativity.
We are passionate about helping every young person thrive.
We are not therapists, but we have experience and expertise working therapeutically with young people.
We are available Monday to Friday during term time, with additional workshops offered during the school holidays.
We would love to help if we can!
‘At a time when the mental health of children and young people is of concern, there is ample evidence of the value and importance of creativity in supporting wellbeing. Young people can find strength, inspiration, consolation and community in their shared experience of creativity.’ (Durham Commission on Creativity and Education)
At The Nook, we believe that creativity is a wonderful way to connect with young people who are struggling in school or facing life challenges.
The Nook offers a safe, peaceful, nurturing environment and provides a carefully designed selection of creative writing and art sessions.
Some young people may only attend for a term, while others may require ongoing support over an extended period.
If we can meet their individual needs, and a space is available, we will happily welcome them to The Nook.
If you would like to refer a young person or a group of young people to join us at The Nook, please fill out the Contact Form below, and we will get in touch.
While we genuinely want to support every young person who reaches out to us, we're also aware of our limits and understand that we can't assist everyone. We'll carefully consider each young person and assess how we can best support them before making a response.
